MIKE RILEY ![]() ***STATEMENT REGARDING MY RECENT WORK*** I'm a native of Baltimore where I have drawn and painted ever since I could hold things. The imagery in my paintings originated through stacks of sketch journals and has subsequently been influenced to varying degrees by street art, gnostic manuscripts, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Jim Henson and concussions. In the last two years I co-founded the multi-use arts space in Baltimore's Station North Arts & Entertainment District, now known as The Hexagon. I've been commissioned for a number of projects by sports teams and musicians throughout North America. I have been interviewed by WTMD Radio and The City Paper and showed and discussed my art during multiple cable access appearances (in spite of a temporary ban for a particularly frank discussion on superhero anatomy). I am currently developing social experiments, game concepts, a series of new paintings and administrating 401(k) plans 50 hours a week. EMAIL me if you have specific questions, a painting for which you would like to pay me, or if you just need a hug.EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts Towson University, Towson MD with additional coursework at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
